Client: Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines Ltd.
Architect: SMC Charter Architect Ltd.
Project Value: £8 Million
Concept development with Architect SMC Charter, and monitoring of contractor design, of a prestigious new headquarters building for Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines Ltd, to be constructed in a prominent location on the western periphery of Ipswich through summer 2008 - 2009.
This unique building will be totally open plan and 100% glazed at first floor level with an underfloor variable air volume air conditioning system with glass return air ducts, and with passive chilled beams and underfloor heating at ground floor level.
The heating and cooling power requirements will be completely met by modular ground source heat pump plant and all plant will be located below ground in order to maintain the see-through appearance of the first floor and to make the entire roof area available for a sedum covering.
The project will include rainwater harvesting and solar heating of domestic hot water services and the planned energy savings will equate to a 30% renewable energy supply.
