Full design for a World Beating Data Centre in North Yorkshire for an American based client. The data centre, currently nearing completion has deployed ‘Six Nines’ (99.9999%) reliability by installing a power distribution system capable of 4 N redundancy, without deploying static change over switches within the distribution network itself. The Mechanical systems comprise 2N + 1 redundancy for the main cooling plant and 2N on pipe work systems.
The 4N power system is capable of generating 8.8 mega watts of Electrical Energy from 4No Hybrid Rotary Uninterruptible power Supplies (UPS) manufactured and installed by Piller U.K.
The Building Management System deployed is one of the most advanced systems available and all equipment down to individual circuit breakers are web enabled, allowing the American based engineers to investigate problems alongside their UK based colleges.
The £11 million data centre is due to be fully tested by Silcock Dawson Engineers early summer 2004 and go online soon after.
The project comprises of a Data Centre and 2,000 sq. metre Office building. The Data Centre is a “mission critical” Centre and the building services are of a complex nature, designed to provide a highly reliable infrastructure through resilient and parallel paths.
