OUR SKILL BASE
Our multidisciplinary teams of experienced engineers provide a wide range of services to support our clients and fellow professionals in the property and construction industry.
Project: Grantown Academy, Grantown-on-Spey, Morayshire
Client: Britspace for Grantown Academy
Architect: Young & Gault LLP
Services Value: £340,000
Project Value: £2.5 Million
As part of the process to achieve Academy status, a new extension is being provided to the existing Grantown Grammar School.
The new two-storey extension, known as the Stem Building will provide much needed accommodation for the school and will comprise ten teaching spaces, including five laboratories, plus additional rooms such as toilets, staff base, technician's work space and several stores.
Being built of a modular construction, it will provide the client with significant cost savings over traditional construction methods and will also facilitate a reduction of 6 months to the construction programme, to enable the facility to be open in time for the new school year, starting September 2009. Higher quality build standards are also achieved through the factory based modular method of construction to be employed.
Silcock Dawson has been appointed, by clients Britspace, to provide full design and site supervision duties. The Company's responsibilities will encompass the design requirements for both the factory element of the project and the site requirements, plus site supervision duties.
The project is going well, in spite of the adverse weather conditions of recent weeks and it is likely that the client will have occupancy earlier than planned.
