Project: Ashmolean Museum, Sackler Library, Oxford
Client: Oxford University
Architect: Robert Adam Architects
Project Value: £12 Million
The Sackler Library project involved the construction of a new Library and Archive facility. The building was an extension to the Ashmolean Museum and was designed in a classical style by the Architect, Robert Adam.
The building was located on two sites, surrounded by existing buildings, many of which are listed.
Due to the nature of the building, consultations were held with the National Library in London during the pre-design stage.
New gas fired boilers were provided to the Ashmolean Museum complex; Library areas were provided with close control air conditioning via a multi-zone central air handling unit, with the books and manuscripts being protected from fading by UV screened / filtered lighting.
The Art Gallery was also air conditioned via a close control central air handling unit.
A Trend Building Management Systems was also included within the installation.
