Silcock Dawson are working with Project Managers The Clarkson Alliance to redevelop and refurbish four leisure centres in Hounslow.
Plans for Feltham Airparcs include a new main entrance in the 'gap' between the two single storey blocks to the front of the building to form a reception area and "hub" from which all the facilities will be visible and accessible. The existing buildings will radiate off from the hub and be refurbished to house a new library, which the existing Hanworth library will move into. The crèche will be relocated off the hub, next to the library, with the possibility of an outside space.
The designs also include the creation of a large cafe/social area, again just off the new reception, which will open onto a newly landscaped courtyard outside. Stairs and a new lift will lead from the hub to a "state of the art gym" at first floor level with two exercise studios, the larger one having views of the cafe/courtyard and park beyond.
The pool changing facilities will be reorganised and fully refurbished and a large changing village will provide improved facilities for families and groups. A larger 'state of the art' gym is proposed with new exercise studio.
A new glazed entrance will be built at the front of Isleworth Recreation Centre to provide a link with the Library building next door. It will also provide a covered entrance to Redlees Park and house a cafe/bar overlooking the park with an outside terrace area which can be used by visitors to the recreation centre, library or passers by. The link will also lead to a new crèche adjacent to the existing children's library which will create a large children's area.
At Chiswick, the old gym will become a crèche and cafe on the ground floor and a new enlarged reception and foyer will lead up to a new gym and studio on the first floor. The pool changing rooms will also be refurbished and enlarged.
At Brenford Fountains, The proposals include a new design for the entrance and reception at Brentford Fountain, plus refurbishing the changing areas and toilet facilities. The existing fitness suite will also be remodelled and extended to create a state-of-the-art 100-workstation gym. The cafe will also be refreshed and a small cafe/juice bar created on the existing pool side terrace.
Silcock Dawson are designing the mechanical and electrical services associated with the improvement and refurbishment work.
Subject to Planning approval, the works are due to start on site in summer 2009.
