11 Jun 08 Sky is the limit for historic building
Refurbishment of the historic Robinson building in Bristol's Bedminster district is to get the full sympathetic treatment from Silcock Dawson. The firm is designing the mechanical, electrical and public health engineering services on behalf of the scheme developers Urbis Developments.
The former industrial building in the Bedminster West conservation area is to be converted into a prestigious residential apartment block. Currently standing five floors, two additional floors will be built to create 100 one, two and three bed apartments along with one and two bed duplex units.
One of the design features to maximise use of the existing architectural features will see an entrance to apartments through a central atrium rising from level one to a skylight at roof level. Essential character elements will also be retained such as the building's existing red and glazed brick façade and interior walls.
There will also be ground floor secure parking, refuse storage areas and plant rooms.
